USA!

Today LG and I bought tickets back to the USA!!!! We leave next Monday! LG's great-grandmother has cancer and is not doing well. We hope to be able to have a good visit with her and maybe LG can bring a little bit of relief to her difficult days. :)

The Trip Home

Once again, LG loved the ferry trip! Even though her parents felt just a wee bit sea sick on the choppy water, LG had a blast sitting in her own seat, playing with her monkey rattler,...and pulling off her left sock. (Notice how on the way over she was wearing short sleeves and shorts, and now she is having to wear a velor jacket and trouser suit.)

Sadly, when we landed, the drive home didn't go as well. It took us double the amount of time to get home from the ferry port as it did when we left. That's because we hit rush hour. Did you know that rush hour starts here at 3:30pm?! Although the mirror helped out a little, I eventually had to move into the back seat with LG to help calm her. It sure is hard to navigate from the back seat. :)

Bubbles! and European Hotel Rooms

Today we made the long drive back to the ferry port. We leave first thing in the morning.

At lunch time we stopped at a baby store to try to find a mirror to attach to LG's seat so that we could see her, and she could see us. We didn't find one, but LG loved the giant teddy bear out front who blew bubbles!

When we arrived at the ferry port town, we did manage to find a mirror. What made LG the happiest, though, was just getting to stretch out on the crazy European hotel bed. :)

Our Favorite Spot & Her First Word

Well, today the weather returned to normal, and it was cold, rainy, and overcast. That didn't deter us from going to our favorite spot in Bretagne. I'm happy to report that LG loved this spot, too! She just laughed, and sang (la, la, la), and chattered the whole way...even if we did get rained on a bit. It was so much fun that she was all tuckered out when we got back to our car.

Later this afternoon when we were doing a bit of last minute shopping in our favorite shops (we head back to Normandy tomorrow), LG surprised us! She stopped saying, "La, la, la," and she said, "Da, da!" I think she might have said, "Mu, mu," too, but she kept repeating, "Da, da, da," the rest of the evening. :)

The Largest Cairn In Europe

One thing that we never got around to doing before was visit the largest cairn in Europe. A cairn is a neolithic burial chamber...at least that is what archeologist think. They were also probably places of worship. Anyway, here we are at it. :)

A Visit With A Dear Friend

Crepes and Rocks

We stopped in the village that is known for its rocks so that LG and Daddy could go rock exploring. This is also the home to our favorite creperie, but sadly it was closed due to the owners being on vacation. So...we had to settle for another creperie. It was good, (oh, how we have missed crepes!) and LG enjoyed playing with the toy (even though you can't tell it from her expression) on the 50 year old high chair that is in every French restaurant.

Signs of Bretagne

Here is LG with some famous sites.

Wind In Her Hair and Teething Necklaces

After we finished our sightseeing, we drove to our friends' campground site to visit and catch up. On the way, we rolled down the windows and LG loved having the wind blow her hair around. She just laughed and laughed, and she said her new word, "La, la, la!"

At the campground, our friends presented LG with an amber necklace. Apparently, in Germany, baby girls teethe on amber necklaces, and when they are teenagers, they were the necklaces as bracelets. I think it's a beautiful necklace and a wonderful idea!

After visiting with our friends, we headed to the heart of Bretagne. I took pictures as we entered in. :)

Mont Saint Michel & First French Restuarant

Today it was hot, hot, hot!!!!!!!! We lathered LG with sunscreen, and she didn't get burned. Sadly, I lathered myself up with sunscreen, and I burned anyway. :(

We took lots of pictures of LG at Mont Saint Michel, but we failed to get a family shot even though we were with friends. (You always think of these things after you get home and look at pictures).

We ate at a restaurant with our friends on the island. As you can see, LG enjoyed her food, and our friends' dog enjoyed his water that the friendly French waiter served him under our table (yes, we were inside the restaurant). If you didn't know already, France is where every dog dreams of going on his vacation.

Ferry Ride To France

Today we took a ferry to France. We are going to spend a few days visiting friends and showing LG around. The weather is still great, and LG did great on the 2 hour drive over to the ferry port, and she did even better on the ferry! She really seemed to enjoy the trip and the fact that she had her own seat on the ferry. Of course, she enchanted all the people on the boat. Everyone kept saying, "Oh, le petit garcon!" And I corrected them with, "Non, elle est une fille!" :)

A Summer Day

LG wore shorts and went barefoot today! Wow! Who knew it would get this warm here?! She was so happy!

More Friends

We had friends drop by for a short visit tonight. This is the 3rd time they have flown long distances to visit LG. Obviously, LG is in awe of their love for her. :)

An Afternoon in the Park

Today it was absolutely gorgeous! We had lovely, warm weather, and we just could not resist getting out in it! B finished up work early, and we all went to the park for the afternoon. LG and I had a little photo shoot, and then we read books on the grass. B read a book on a park bench and took pictures of all the new little ducklings swimming in the pond. :) PS. The white stuff on LG's face is sunscreen. It was that warm!

A Good Night's Sleep

LG has only woken once during the night for the past three nights! Yeah! She has also started eating solids twice a day. Sometimes she just has a couple of spoonfuls of solids, but today she ate a whole bowl full of rice cereal and a whole bunch of pureed green beans. She doesn't really like the green beans (but then most of her vegetables have taken a day or two for her to like), but she hasn't figured out how to spit them out yet. She did enjoy drinking water from a cup, though, today. She discovered that she could rinse the green beans out of her mouth when she took a sip from her cup. :) So...to date, she has had rice cereal, parsnips, butternut squash, carrots, peas, and green beans. Carrots are still her favorites.

First Tea

She slept through it, of course. :)
