A Day of Fun!

Today LG had fun looking at herself in a mirror, putting vouchers(coupons) in her purse with Daddy, and playing with her activity center.  :)

Fun?

I read somewhere that you should let your child play with food while your cooking so that they will have an interest in cooking and what you are cooking.  Well, LG did not enjoy playing with her marshmallow I gave her.  I was making a sweet potatoe casserole with a whole bunch of other foods for another Thanksgiving dinner we were invited to today. Sadly, we decided not to go because LG started coming down with something today.  Maybe that is why she didn't enjoy her marshmallow?  :(

Alabama vs. Auburn

LG cheered for Alabama all day.  Alabama should have won.  "Sweet Home Alabama" was even playing on the radio here!  (Sorry the video is sideways.)  Why didn't you win, Alabama?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!  We celebrated in the evening with two other families that we work with. We brought a sweat potato pie and a pecan pie. We had to wait till suppertime so that the teenagers could get home from school.  (Thanksgiving isn't a holiday here, of course.)  I was very proud of LG that she did so well staying up so late.  Of course, we were the first to leave the party.  LG tried all the food, but she liked the stuffing and sweat potato casserole best.  :)

The Window

LG loves to look out windows.  I think she misses the outdoors.  It's just too cold now to spend a lot of time outside.  :(

Fun With Food

This morning, LG woke up and decided to help Daddy eat his breakfast.  :)

She then had a good time playing with Mommy's cooking utensils.

For supper, she enjoyed her dessert...her favorite...blueberries!!!!

Shots

LG  had some shots today.  I stress the word "shots."  One in each leg.  Neither of us where prepared for this.  As usual there were no band-aids/plasters available at the doctor's office.  I had come prepared with one.  :(  Sadly, she cried all the way home.  :(

Today Miss LG wore pink.

Second Day of Mini-vacation

After a good night that was interrupted briefly by a limo outside our window filled with girls celebrating a hen party (bachelorette party), we started today off very cold but sunny.  We decided to visit Shakespeare's wife's family home.  This house was built in the mid-1400's and was lived in by her family until the mid-1900's!  Can you believe it!  Electricity and running water were never installed.

We also visited the house of Shakespeare's daughter.  She married a doctor and lived in this fancy house.

After all our sightseeing, we headed home in the afternoon...in the rain.  :)  It was a good mini-vacation.  :)

Mini-vacation

We have taken a short holiday to see Shakespeare's home town!  Here we are at the house he grew up in.  His father was a glove maker, and he made and sold gloves from the house.

We also went to the church where he was baptized and buried.  We really enjoyed the posters at the church that gave the history of the church during Shakespeare's time.  Did you realize that his parents would have been living during the Catholic Bloody Mary, and he was born during the Protestant age?  Think about how one's theology might be confused.

In the evening, we ate at the pub attached to our hotel.  LG enjoyed eating my peas and drinking her milk.  :)

Last Weigh In

Today was LG's last weigh in.  It's her last official medical check up until the age of 3 under the health care system here.  It was at a new place.  It wasn't actually a clinic.  It's a children's center where they have parent/kid activities during the week for free.  It's also at the end of our street!  Hopefully, LG and I can start going to activities at the center soon!  :)

New Purse

Did I mention that LG's daddy gave her a purse for her birthday?  He thought she might enjoy carrying a real purse instead of an umbrella cover.  But, no.  She enjoys wearing her purse on her head.

Happy 1st Birthday, LG!!!!!

Today LG turned one!  I can't believe it's been a year since her birth!

We got up early today and took pictures, and then at 2pm we had LG's second birthday party!  4 different families were invited, and my parents joined us on Skype.  LG had a fun time opening presents again and eating a special birthday cupcake that our friends made her.  They also made her cake (another carrot cake)!  I think her favorite toy this time around was her activity center that her daddy and I gave her.  She has played with it non-stop.  She also enjoyed the e-birthday card her Grandparents N sent her.  We watched it at least 5 times so she could dance to the music.

My baby is growing up!

ESL Friends

B and I teach English after church each Sunday.  Lots of kids come with their parents to the English classes, and they have fun playing while their parents study.  Just because LG is the youngest doesn't mean that she doesn't get in on the fun.  This is her competing in a crawling race!

American

LG found my 4th of July flags today, and she would not put them down!!!  She had the most fun laughing and waving those flags!

1st Birthday Party

LG is had one of her birthday parties today!  We decided to have two parties for her...one on Saturday for her little friends and one on Tuesday (her birthday) for adult friends.  We had the party at 2pm, and we invited 3 different families...that was a total of 8 kids, plus LG!  We even had Grandma N present via Skype!  We had a great time opening presents, eating cake and ice cream, and playing with LG's new blocks that she got as a present from Grandma N.  I made the birthday cake, and Daddy wrote on it with the icing.  It was a carrot cake with cream cheese icing (made from scratch!).  LG seemed to like the cake and ice cream, although she insisted on using a spoon.  That's my girl!
