Today was the big day for the event of the year...the royal wedding! Our family and another family decided that we wanted to take our kids into the city so that they could say they were there. We got up early, and we assumed that we would just get into the city, experience some of the atmosphere, and then turn around and come home. We figured that it would be just too packed to actually stay and watch part of the wedding. Happily, we were wrong!
Public transport was not very crowded going into town. When we arrived, there were lots of people passing out flags and para-scopes. Our friends bought us an official wedding program! We followed the crowds and ended up walking into a park where there was a big screen set up with news coverage of the event as it was happening. We decided to sit down and watch a bit of it, and before we knew it, we were surrounded with people and the park was closed off, and no one else was allowed to enter it! We though, "Well, we are here; let's watch part of the wedding!" So we watched the bride walk down the aisle, and then we got permission from the security guards to leave, so that we could make it back on public transport before the rush of people joined us. It was amazing and so much fun!
LG enjoyed being there with her best friends. Every time the crowd cheered and waved their flags, LG did the same! She loved waving that flag! I am so glad that she can say that she was there for this historical event!
