Lime size moment

Each week we get an email from babycenter.com telling us how big little one is. This week s/he is the size of a lime.

It's also the twelve week mark and the end of the first trimester. We went in for a genetic screening sonogram. This is a more detailed sonogram than the normal and is used to detect certain genetic disorders. Because of the nature of the sonogram, we actually got to hear the little one's heartbeat. It sounded like thunder rolling. We both were surprised at how activity s/he was.

The Day to Day

Generally, I feel awful, but that is a good sign.  I have to snack about every two hours, or I feel so nauseated that I can't stand it.  I am also extremely tired.  I take at least one nap a day, and I go to bed early.  I just do not know how I would survive if I had a 9-5 job.  As it is now, I have to really prepare myself to do anything outside the house, or in the house, for that matter.

Cooking has become a real chore, which is not good, since I need to be eating healthy.  I keep blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, apples, and oranges on hand to snack on.  I also have some pretty tasteless granola bars that have no sugar in them.  It seems that I just can't stomach most things that I have cooked recently.  I cook and cook, and then after one bite, that is it.  I couldn't eat the salmon I fixed on Sunday, and I couldn't eat the cheese and vegetable quesadillas I cooked last night.  Tonight, I'm fixing vegetable couscous.  We will see how that goes.

Thankfully, I am able to eat breakfast.  B fixes me muesli and bifidus yogurt every morning, and so far so good.  Something that is an absolute shock to me is that I like the milk here.  They have special milk for all sorts of different things (lactose-intolerant, bifidus, children, etc...), but my milk is Mama Milk.  That's literally its name!  It's for expectant mothers.  It's actually very yummy, so I drink a glass of that a day.  I drink tons of water the rest of the day.

As far as everything else with me, my clothes still kinda fit, but I just feel yucky.  Also, my face is constantly breaking out.  I've had friends tell me that they love the feeling of being pregnant.  I'm not sure what they mean.  Maybe later I will feel better, but I am certainly not loving this "feeling."

Appointment at 8 weeks

On March 26, we picked up the blood work from the hospital. We were suppose to take it with us today and give to the doctor.

What a birthday present!! A doctor's appointment!!

Our appointment was at 11:30AM. We got there at 11AM, and three people were ahead of us. As per norm, we waited for over 2 hours to see the doctor. She looked at the blood work and said everything was fine. The sonogram revealed that little one has grown two little arms and legs. Everything looked great according to the doctor.

In the picture above, it is as if you are looking straight on at little one. You can barely make out his/her arms.

Ps 139:13-14
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
