Just Like I Said...

...our days are becoming more interesting.

I looked up from my work today to see LG pulling up on her rocking chair to get her library book! Later in the afternoon, she was having fun standing by the couch.

New Tricks

LG can pull herself up to a standing position (with a little help), stand by herself if she is leaning against something, and roll a ball back and forth. She's also getting quite good at rolling around and scooting backwards. Our days are about to get a lot more interesting. :)

Another Laundry Day

LG helped Mommy with laundry again today, and then we took a picture of ourselves in the mirror. :) Later on, LG tried on a t-shirt that Mommy wore when she was a little girl.

A New House, A New Tooth

One of the reasons I have been so busy lately is because we are preparing to move into a new house. By preparing, I mean getting estimates to have a lot of work done so that we can then move in. Recently, we have been over at the new empty house a lot, but that has not been a problem for LG. We put a quilt down on the floor and some toys, and she has a great time.

The back yard (or back garden, as they say here) is fabulous! There is a little fish pond and all sorts of fruit, vegetables, and flowers. We even have apples from our neighbor's tree that is partly in our yard!

Here we have LG trying out that new tooth on an apple. Thankfully, her slight apple allergy didn't flare up.

Boot Sale

Over here they have "boot sales" instead of "garage sales." "Boot" is what you call the "trunk" of your car. People all gather in parking lots and sell stuff from their boot instead of from their garage...hence the name.

Anyway, today we got up early and went to a boot sale. Look what LG got! (It's a rocking sheep!)

A Happy Day

LG got a balloon at McDonald's, helped Mommy fold clothes, and played with Daddy. How much more fun could life be?

Teething

LG loves her teething ring. :)

Still no pictures of the tooth.

Tooth

I tried to get some pictures of LG's first tooth, but this is all I got. The camera, apparently, doesn't do great close-ups, and LG wants to play with the camera too much. :)

Two Big Milestones!

Today LG went to the library to attend Rhyme Time, an activity for babies who are not crawling yet. Each baby is given a little shaker instrument that they can shake while their parents sing and chant nursery rhymes to them. She loved it! Afterwards, she filled out her application for her first library card, and then got the card that day! She used it to check out K is for Kissing a Cool Kangaroo. Each time she checks out a book, she will get a sticker on her card, and she will get a certificate when her card is filled up! LG is going to be a little reader. Yeah! (Her mommy and daddy got their library cards, too, today.)

After we got home from the library, Daddy discovered something when LG chomped down on his finger. She is finally getting a tooth! You can't see it yet, but you can feel a little point sticking out. LG is growing up so fast!!!!!

New Foods

Today LG tried beef for the first time! I cooked a roast yesterday, so I pureed some of it for her today at lunch. She loved it!

At supper time, we went to TGI Friday's, and LG had her first restaurant meal ordered especially for her. It was cheese mashed potatoes. Sadly, she didn't really like them. Maybe it just means she prefers her mother's cooking. :)

Getting Around

LG isn't quite "crawling," but she sure is getting around now. Here are some pictures of her crawling after church (she was inspired by the other kids in creche, I think).

At bed time we discovered that her pj's match her precious moments doll! So...we took more pictures. :)

More Milestones and Funny Hairdos

LG fed herself Cheerios and cheese today for the very first time!!!!! I am so proud of her! Her daddy gave her a spoon to start playing with today, so that we can start working on her feeding herself with a spoon next. (I don't know why LG has her feet on the table. That's not allowed!) :)

Also, Daddy gave LG a new hairdo this afternoon. What do you think?

Monthly Checkup

Today LG had her monthly checkup. She now weighs 16 pounds and 14 ounces. While at the GP, she received two free books. At 8 months, parents are encouraged to read to their children, so the health professionals give books out to the children. LG loves her two new books! They are just her size.

She also had another good night of sleep last night. She spent the afternoon practicing crawling. She can lift herself up on her arms well, and she can roll front to back and back to front very easily. She moves around very slowly, and it's normally backwards or sideways. She gets frustrated at herself very easily, and she cries. Each morning when I have gone in to get her out of her crib, she has been up on her arms, trying to crawl, and crying because she's not going anywhere. Poor thing. She'll figure it out soon enough. :)

Eating A Buscuit

...or cookie (depending on where you live). :) She likes this finger food the best so far!

Pulling Up To Standing Position!

LG pulled herself up into a standing position today and stood up by herself for at least half a minute, if not more! She was sitting in my lap, and I had my back against the couch. B was sitting cross legged on the couch with his toe sticking over the edge. As I have said before, LG has become fascinated with people's feet, so she suddenly turned, grabbed Daddy's toe, and pulled herself up into a standing position on the floor! Sadly, we have no picture of this because we were both taken by surprise, and we didn't want her to fall, so I just kept my hands out to protect her head when she finally did fall. Of course, B couldn't move because she was using his toe to support herself! :) Good girl!

A Day Of Crafty Fun

Today the three of us got up early and went into town to have some fun. We had heard about an American diner that served a great blueberry pancake, so we thought we would go there for brunch. Sadly, the blueberry pancake was more of a dessert than a breakfast and the service was very slow (not good for LG), but I enjoyed my omelet.

Afterwords, we went into a cool department store (the oldest in town), called Liberty. It's kind of an eclectic, artsy type of place with prices I could never afford. They take a lot of antiques and vintage stuff and make them new again. I loved just about everything in that place!

Next, we went to a craft fair that was different from any craft fair I have ever been to. No toilet paper roll Southern belles here! This fair had dj's playing indi music in the background, and they taught swing dance. You could also make a craft while there. One booth sold cross-stitching kits of scenes from Star Wars. Another made jewelry out of buttons. It was all very inspiring, and I signed up for a lot of email newsletters about future fairs.

Although I decorated my computer a couple of weeks ago, now seems the appropriate time to display my craftiness. :)

8 Months Old

Today was not LG's day, even though it was her birthday, and she slept through the night again. She was just Miss Sensitive all day. I had a very tough time getting her picture, so I have morning and afternoon shots. She's in a dress in the afternoon because we were going over to a friend's house for the evening.
