The Hungry Caterpillar

LG loves the book The Hungry Caterpillar. Her grandmother bought her this cute onesie with the caterpillar from the book on it. We bought her the caterpillar. As you can see, the caterpillar is not the only one who is hungry. LG loves to munch on the caterpillar!

The First Bite

LG has had a very eventful and full day today.

This morning before she woke from her early morning nap (an early nap because she woke up very early this morning), we were invited to take a walk in the park with a mom and her two kids from church. So, as soon as LG woke up we got ready and headed to the park. We stayed there until lunch time. When we got home, Daddy and his work colleague were working from our house today, so after the adults ate lunch, Daddy videoed and his colleague took pictures of LG's first bite of solid food! I fed LG 3 baby spoonfuls of very liquidly rice cereal mixed with breast milk, and she loved it! She would have eaten more, if I would have let her. After her little meal, we put some water in the cup she has been playing with, and she drank just a smidge of water from a cup, too! The bib she wore for this momentous occasion was a bib that our neighbors above us gave her. I think it's hilarious, and I am sure the statement applies to them as well. Check out LG's pic to see what it says!

GP/Doctor's Visit

Today we took LG in to the GP to ask about her weight and the state of her GERD. They weighed her, and she is now at 14 pounds and 13 ounces. Although we didn't actually get to talk to a doctor, we did get to speak to the Health Visitor. This is a specific type of nurse who looks after children. The Health Visitor is a very nice lady, who I really like and trust. She was not severely concerned about LG's slow weight gain because she continues to gain weight. She did say that she wanted LG to start eating solids TOMORROW! I kind of anticipated that this is what she would say, so yesterday I went ahead and bought her some rice cereal and some carrots and parsnips to steam and puree.

When it comes to LG's GERD difficulties, her medicine has stopped working. The Health Visitor said to go ahead and stop giving it to her because solid food should start helping that problem anyway.

We will not start solids tomorrow because LG and I will be in town with some friends at a park during lunch, but Thursday we will give it a go (as they say here)!

Sunday Best

Today was the first day that LG has ever stayed in a nursery. During church I took her to the "creche" (nursery) because she has begun to talk very loudly during the last few sermons we have attended. When I picked her up after church, she was asleep and all the nursery workers said she was perfectly happy the whole time. They had fun holding her. Good girl!

During supper tonight, LG was sitting in her chair playing with her toys, and we noticed that since her dress was flared over the back of her chair, she looked like she was wearing a hoop skirt. She's our little Southern Belle!

All Tuckered Out

On our walk today, LG took a cue from the ducks (they are sleeping by the pond in the background).

Headbands

Our friends from France gave us some headbands for LG, but they haven't fit her until now. :)

Surrounded...

by daffodils!

French Church, The Palace, And The Park

Today we got up very early and rode the bus and the tube downtown to attend a French speaking church. Everything was just has we remembered it, and we enjoyed our time there. We then ate lunch at a great burrito place and decided to check out the palace. Right across from the palace are beautiful gardens filled with daffodils and tulips, so we put LG on her changing mat on the grass, and we had a lovely time enjoying the sun and the spring!

A Sunny Day...Perfect For A Stroll

Today it was sunny and hot (mid-60's), so we put sunscreen and sunglasses on LG and strolled into town. People generally stop us because they have never seen a baby with a bow in her hair (they just don't wear them here), but today we were even more popular because of the sunglasses. When we passed a hair salon, the ladies inside literally ran to the window to point and look at LG!

New Skill

LG has really started reaching for stuff this week. She reaches for you to pick her up. She reaches for her dolls. She reaches for the computer. She reaches for the remote controls. And today...she reached out for the camera.

Weigh Day

Today we went to the GP to have LG weighed. She weighs 14 pounds and 6 oz.! She's gained a pound in a month! We also talked to the nurse about starting her on solid foods next month, and we were given a whole bunch of literature about that. LG also got her "red book." The red book is a red book where all of a child's medical history is recorded. I have been able to transfer her shot record into it as well as chart her weight and height. I'm kind of worried about her weight. As you know, she started out in the 95% of weight, and now she is in the 25%. I think that we will go back to the GP soon, and get further advice on this. Maybe when she starts solids things will be better.

Tonight we also had a supper party. We had raclette and fondue...a little tribute to our old home. LG did very well. She stayed up an hour past her 7pm bedtime, but she went right to sleep when we laid her down.

A Day Into Town

Today it was not only sunny, but it was warm! I took a picture of LG as we were getting ready to walk to town. We had a lovely time! As usual, lots of people stop and talk to LG, and they tell me all sorts of things about her. The two things I heard the most were that she couldn't see because of her hat and that she was holding her foot in a funny way. She could see out from under her hat, and, of course, she was holding her foot a funny way! She was trying to put it in her mouth! :)

Springtime In The Neighborhood Park

Spring Stroller

LG's stroller/push cart has seasonal liners. You may have noticed that she had a red leaf liner in the fall, and she had a fur lined pouch for the winter time. Today was the day that we switched to her pretty pink, spring flower liner. It matches the pink blossoms on the tree outside our living room window!!!

Last Shots

Today LG had her last round of immunizations until she is a year old. She had 3 shots in her legs, and she did really well. Her daddy held her, and she only cried as they were giving the shots. She calmed down quickly afterwards. It seems that we gave the Tylenol at the right time so that it could take effect quickly. When we arrived home, LG slept a lot in my arms, and we just pampered her for the day. Here is a picture of her when we got home after the shots.

Easter Monday

We had hoped to go into the city on my birthday, but the day was pretty gloomy, so we postponed our trip until Monday. Our destination was a arts and crafts market, but it was closed, so we went to the National Arts Gallery instead. While there, we ran into some friends from church (what a small city we live in!), and we all went on an Easter story guided tour of the museum. The museum guide told the Easter story through the artwork on display; it was so cool! For lunch we went to our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in all of Europe! As the photos show, we decided to forgo the stroller/push cart, and we just toted LG around in the Baby Bjorn. She did great!

Happy Easter!

You've heard of "hot cross buns" before, haven't you? Did you ever wonder what they are? Well, here is a picture of them. They are traditional rolls that you eat on Easter in the UK. They are rolls filled with raisins and spices, and they have a white frosting cross on top. We had them this morning. We toasted them and added butter. Then when we got to church, they served hot cross buns and tea. They also served hot cross buns and tea at the Good Friday service.

Now the rest of the pictures are of LG, of course. She is wearing her Easter outfit. Her bib not only says "Happy Easter" and has two Easter eggs on it, but it has a rattle attached that says "Babies 1st Easter!"

April Fool's Trick

LG surprised us all today by balancing herself while sitting on my lap! We didn't have the camera out when she first did it, but a friend got it on their cell phone camera. (Hopefully, I can get that picture soon to post.) Later, we captured her with our camera, but she kind of balanced herself while slumping forward this time. Is this LG's April Fools trick for us, or will she start sitting by herself from now on?
