This morning we got up bright and early to catch the train into town to take a bus tour that B and I bought a couple of months back. This is our anniversary gift to ourselves (all be it, a day early).
Unfortunately, we missed the first bus of the day by minutes, so we had to wait around for the second bus. This allowed us to have brunch at Subway, and then hop on the bus early and get the best seats. It was a double decker bus, so we sat up top in the front row! Lucky for us, the first couple of rows up top were covered, and, of course, it rained part of our tour.
LG had a great time! She loved looking out the bus windows, and while we waited for the bus to start, she had a great time talking on her phone that she brought in her purse/bag with her.
We saw all the famous sites, and some not so famous sites.
Two of the not so famous sites were the Ferrari shop and the Harvey Nichols store. When LG heard Ferrari mentioned by the bus commentator, she started singing her transportation song from Rhyme Time, " Ferrari, Ferrari, Mini, Mini, Mini, and a Big Red Bus." (It's the same tune as the "McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut" song.)
Harvey Nichols is a posh department store here. I think it is interesting that they spell our name correctly at this store. I think I need to start telling people that my name is spelled like this store because EVERYONE misspells our name.
Every time we drove by royal horses on parade, LG pointed and yelled at the top of her lungs, "Donkeys! Donkeys!" I'm sure that if a royal heard her, they would be horrified. :)
Before lunch, LG took about an hour nap on the bus, which was nice because we decided to end our tour early at the castle and walk to the one and only decent BBQ place in the city for a special anniversary lunch. (First we took a picture of LG and Daddy beside the castle with, what will be, the tallest skyscraper in Europe behind them.) LG had a great time; she liked the food; and her meal was free! We had a great time, as well, and it was nice to take a day off of work and celebrate in the city!
When we got home, I took a nap to rest up for my last ESL class tonight. I told the story at the end of class, and said goodbye to all my students. They all had kind things to say to me about the class. I hope the class continues to benefit them even with a new teacher.
