We have arrived in our new home in Europe! Little Girl did very good on her first two airplane rides, all things considered. On the first flight that was just 45 minutes long, we were allowed to board before the other 15 passengers. The airline attendant was very helpful in getting us settled, helping with the car seat, and giving us advise on what to do to help Little Girl survive the trip. She apologized that they no longer give out wings for the first flight. How sad! I was hoping for one for her baby book. We were advised to hold LG (instead of putting her in her car seat) facing us on our laps during take off and landing to help with her ears popping. We were also to keep her chewing her passy. She did really good on take off, but landing was a bit too much, and she cried a bit. The other passengers were really kind and said nice things about LG when they were getting off the plane.
We had a 4 hour layover at the big airport. LG was happy to sit in her car seat and only got upset and cried a couple of times. There was a nice lady who sat across from us, and she kept saying how good LG was. When we boarded the big plane, there was no one to help us, the aisles were just big enough to get the car seat through, and the plane was pretty packed. We did fine, though. We were had the middle three seats in the back of the plane, so we put the car seat in the middle. LG was happy to immediately get in her chair, and it looked like everything was going to be good. Then suddenly, before we even started to taxi, LG just started screaming! She probably only cried for about 5 minutes, but for the woman behind us, it seemed like an eternity. She asked a flight attendant to help us. The flight attendant asked if there was anything she could do for us, and we said no, so the flight attendant told the woman there was nothing she could do. Then the woman leaned over my seat and asked if LG had a pacifier, when I told her that it was in her mouth, she looked flabbergasted. Then the woman stood up (we were supposed to be seated and buckled by now) and asked if she could walk LG or something. I told her no, that I had it under control. The flight attendant then jumped all over the woman for standing up because the plane was trying to taxi. Finally, LG stopped crying when the plane started taxiing. (I think she likes the sound of the motor, and we know she likes movement.)
Anyway, we are here now staying with some friends until our apartment is ready. Hopefully, we can move in on the 15th!
